Jack Torrance, errr Jadd Koubek, former Katarina bassist and current B.B. Gun captain, has come a long way since his early musical endeavors. Tackling on his first solo-project and E.P., The Commander’s Conflict dropped on Halloween night, making it the perfect night to inject these sounds so full of gloom into your eardrums.
Carrying something unconventionally new but suitable for this winter season, this is like experimental meets psychedelia in a haunted house. It’s refreshingly avant-garde, noisy, oozy apocalyptic rock. It’s a trip to say the least, a danceable trip into a rabbit hole fusion of unique sounds and creeping rhythms layered on one another to create this heavy, drone-filled mess that ties so well in unison together. You can quickly pick this up with the E.P.’s intro track, “Lead.” It’s humorous, different, and down right groovy. Buckle up and tune in until the very end of the eerie brew, especially if there are any Velvet Underground fans amongst you rock’n’rollin’ gentleladies and gentlemen out there.
Released on T.V. Records and produced by Adon Whittemore, Koubek hopes to grow from this E.P. and release a full-length album in the summer of 2018, so keep your eyes peeled and in the meantime give the demos a listen while supporting alternative music and local artists in Southern California! Be sure to follow his social media pages to get any updates and further info.
